Create a Micro Sim Card from a Normal Sim Card

iPhone4

There will be many cutomers who are put off the iPad and new iPhone 4 due to the high contract costs offered by mobile companies.

So is there a way around these? Well, yes there is!

There is a simple way to cut your regular sim card for use on an unlocked iPad or iPhone 4.

So here’s our little how to guide:

You will need:

  • 1x iPhone 4 or iPad (unlocked)
  • 1x standard SIM card (Why not get a Free Sim card?!)
  • 1x pokey-pokey device
  • 1x scissors

  1. Remove the Sim card holder and investigate. Check the sizes and placing of the card.
  2. Use sissors to cut your sim to size. Start roughly then trim it down.
  3. Your micro SIM should measure 15 by 12mm
  4. Enter back into the holder and into your device.

Moment of truth… You will either see your network in the top left, or an error message saying “No SIM Installed”.  If you get a few Free Sim Cards then you can just try again.

And your done! You get one working iPhone 4 or iPad with none of the expensive contract costs! You can use your current mobile contract sim, a current PAYG sim or get a new free sim.

Enjoy!

Free Gifts with Mobile Phones

Over the past few weeks I have been looking into new Mobile Phone deals as I have been out of contract for about 3 weeks. I decided I would take a look at all the offers to see which would work out best for myself.

At the moment I pay about £20 per month but could stretch my budget a little further if the deals were good. I started to look at which suppliers would offer a Free Gift for joining such as a Free Wii, Free Laptop, Free Phone etc….

I was amazed at just how many of the suppliers are willing to give you something for free.

OK, I thought this has got to leave me out of pocket somewhere so I delved into the deals. Firstly most of the deals nowadays require you to sign up for 24 months instead of the 12 months that you needed to previously. Not a bad thing as many phones nowadays are so ‘smart’ that they will probably last 2 years whereas the older phones would be lucky to get 1 year.

Then I noticed that a lot of these offers had terms such as you only get your gift after 3 months or after 2 bills had been paid. Well I want my gift straight away which is the reason I am looking into it now. The cashback offers are usually the most annoying because you have to claim it back after 3, 6 and 12 months by sending a claim slip and a copy of your bill and if you do not claim within a set period you don’t get your cashback.

In the end I plumped for a Free Nintendo Wii, my contract is £25 per month and I get a new phone. Not a great phone but I already have an iPhone which is unlocked so can simply use that. The phone I receive will be a present for a friend and the Nintendo Wii will be used to help me get fit.

If your contract is nearly up then have a good shop around as you may be surprised at the deals you can get by switching suppliers. Also you can keep your number with any of the suppliers so nothing to worry about there.
